Terms & Privacy Policy

Last updated 14 September 2026

This page covers both halves of what you agree to when you create a Remote WorkHER account: the terms that govern your use of the platform, and how we look after your personal information.

The short version

  • You keep ownership of everything you create here — your portfolio, resume, posts and projects.
  • Nothing in your profile is public until you publish it. Your portfolio is private until you share the link.
  • We never see your card details, we don't sell your data, and every optional email can be switched off.
  • Our AI tools are assistance, not professional advice — always read what they write before you send it.

It's a summary, not a replacement — the sections below are what actually applies.

Part 1

Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Remote WorkHER website, platform and related services (together, the “Service”), operated by Remote WorkHER (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1.1 Using Remote WorkHER

Remote WorkHER is a career platform for women — a place to work out what you want next, get job-ready, apply, learn, and do it alongside other women rather than alone. You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial career development.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, tell you by email or inside the product. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

1.2 Who can use the Service

You must be at least 15 years old to create an account. The Service is built for women building their careers — whether you are studying, job seeking, employed, freelancing or returning after a break — and is open to members across Africa and the diaspora.

You agree to give accurate information when you sign up and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Accounts are personal — please don't share your login. Tell us immediately at partnerships@remoteworkher.com if you think someone else has access to your account.

1.3 Memberships and billing

Remote WorkHER offers a free plan and paid plans (currently Starter, Job Seeker and Career Accelerator), billed monthly, quarterly or yearly through our payment providers, Paystack and Flutterwave. Prices are shown in Nigerian Naira (₦), and VAT is applied at checkout where it is due.

Paid plans run for the billing period you chose. You can cancel at any time — you keep paid access until the end of the current period, and we do not offer partial refunds for unused time except where the law requires it. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 14 days at partnerships@remoteworkher.com and we will look into it.

If a payment fails, we may pause paid features until billing is resolved. We may change plan prices or what a plan includes with reasonable notice; a billing period you have already paid for is not affected.

1.4 AI tools and monthly allowances

Your plan includes a monthly allowance for the AI-powered tools — Hera (your AI career guide), Career Explorer, the Job Application, LinkedIn and Freelance toolkits, and the others in the career toolkit. Allowances reset at the start of each month and unused uses do not roll over.

AI output is generated assistance, not professional, legal, financial or career advice. Always read and edit a resume, cover letter, application or negotiation script before you send it — you are responsible for what you put in front of an employer. Do not use the tools to invent qualifications, impersonate anyone, or produce unlawful content. We may rate-limit or suspend access where use is abusive or damages the Service for other members.

1.5 Jobs, applications and the Talent Pool

Job listings come from our partners and from external job sources. We work to keep them current, but we do not guarantee that any listing is accurate, still open, or will lead anywhere, and we are not a party to any employment relationship between you and an employer. Always do your own checks before accepting an offer or sending sensitive documents to anyone.

Match scores, readiness scores and recommendations are guidance only. Applying through the platform does not guarantee an interview or an offer. Joining the Talent Pool is optional: applications are reviewed by our team, approval is at our discretion, and being listed is not a promise of an introduction or a job.

1.6 Your content and portfolio

You keep ownership of everything you create on the Service — your portfolio, projects, resume content, posts and messages (“Your Content”). By publishing or sharing it, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, display and distribute it as needed to run the Service — for example, showing your published portfolio to anyone who has the link.

Only upload content you own or have permission to share. Do not post unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or infringing material, and do not upload anyone else's private information. We may remove content or restrict publishing where these Terms are broken.

1.7 Community conduct

The community — discussions, chapters, challenges, events and office hours — runs on mutual respect. Harassment, hate speech, spam, scams, impersonation and sharing anyone's private information are not tolerated and can lead to immediate removal. You can report a post or comment from the post itself, and our team reviews reports.

Advice shared by members and mentors reflects their personal experience, not professional counsel. Mentorship is a conversation, not a guarantee of employment, promotion or income.

1.8 Mentorship, events and challenges

Mentors set their own availability and session pricing, and bookings are made and paid for through the platform. A session may need to be rescheduled or cancelled — the terms that apply are shown to you at booking, and we will always try to find you an alternative. Reviews you leave must be honest and about the session itself.

Paid event tickets are refundable only where the event page says so, or where we cancel the event. Challenge prizes are awarded at our discretion once proof of completion has been reviewed and approved, and we may withhold a prize where submissions are copied, misrepresented or otherwise not your own work.

1.9 Referrals

If you refer someone who goes on to subscribe to a paid plan, you may earn a cash commission under the terms shown on the Refer & Earn page. Referrals must be genuine: no spam, no paid advertising on our brand, no misrepresenting what Remote WorkHER offers, and no referring accounts you control yourself. We may withhold or reverse a commission tied to abuse, fraud or a refunded payment.

1.10 Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service: no scraping or bulk extraction, no reverse engineering, no interfering with other members' access, no working around usage limits or paywalls, no reselling access, and nothing unlawful. Automated access (bots, scrapers) needs our prior written permission.

1.11 Closing your account, suspension and termination

You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing partnerships@remoteworkher.com — paid access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. What happens to your data afterwards is set out in “How long we keep your information” in the Privacy Policy below.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these Terms, abuse the Service, or put other members at risk — without prior notice where the violation is serious. When an account ends, your right to use the Service ends immediately; the parts of these Terms that should reasonably survive (ownership, liability limits) continue to apply.

1.12 Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Remote WorkHER will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, opportunities or income arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose — or ₦0 if you are on the free plan.

1.13 Changes to the Service

We are always building: features, tools, plans and content may be added, changed or retired. Where a change materially reduces a paid feature you rely on, we will give reasonable notice and, where appropriate, offer an alternative.

1.14 Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction over any dispute — without affecting any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.

Part 2

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Remote WorkHER collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers the platform, our website and the emails we send. Remote WorkHER is the data controller for that information, and we handle it in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 — and, where it applies to you, the UK/EU GDPR.

2.1 Information you give us

Most of what we hold is what you type in yourself:

  • Account details — your first and last name, email address and password (stored only as a salted hash — we never see it), plus a phone number and profile photo if you add them.
  • Profile and onboarding answers — gender, date of birth, country and city, school, field of study and graduation year, occupation and job title, the industries and roles you work in, years of experience, skills, your target role, salary goal, preferred work locations, timeline, and what is currently standing in your way.
  • Career documents — resumes and cover letters you upload or build, your LinkedIn and portfolio links, and the projects, experience, education, certifications and testimonials you put in your portfolio.
  • Applications and activity — jobs you save or apply to and the status you track them at, challenge submissions and proof of completion, course progress, resources you download, and the tasks you tick off on your career plan.
  • Community content — discussions, comments, poll votes, the chapters you join, and any reports you file about someone else's post.
  • Events and mentorship — event registrations and your answers to an event's own registration questions, tickets, mentor bookings and the reviews you leave.
  • Payout details — if you are an approved mentor or earn a referral commission, the bank account details we need in order to pay you.
  • Messages to us — support emails, and what you write to Hera, our AI career guide.

2.2 Information we collect automatically

  • Sign-in and device records — your IP address, browser and device type, approximate country, and when each session started and was last active. You can see every signed-in device and end any of them under Settings → Signed-in devices.
  • Usage — which features you use and when, and each AI tool run together with what you put in and what came back — kept so your history is there when you return.
  • Portfolio analytics — views and link clicks on your published portfolio, so we can show you how it is performing.
  • Cookies — one essential session cookie that keeps you signed in — it is httpOnly, cannot be read by scripts, and the Service cannot work without it — and Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies to measure traffic and feature use. You can block analytics cookies in your browser; blocking the session cookie will sign you out.

2.3 Why we use it

We use the information above to:

  • run your account, keep you signed in, and keep the platform secure;
  • personalise what you see — your roadmap, daily plan, job matches, readiness score, recommended courses, mentors and resources are all built from your profile answers;
  • generate AI tool output and remember your history;
  • take payments, apply your plan's access, and pay mentors and referrers;
  • send you the emails described below, and the transactional ones you'd expect — verification, receipts, password resets and booking confirmations;
  • moderate the community and investigate abuse or fraud;
  • understand how the product is used in aggregate so we can improve it, and meet our legal and accounting obligations.

Where the law asks for a legal basis: most of this is necessary to provide the service you signed up for; some rests on our legitimate interest in keeping the platform safe and improving it; marketing emails rest on the consent you gave at signup, which you can withdraw at any time; and payment and tax records are kept to meet a legal obligation.

2.4 Payments

Card and bank details are entered on Paystack's or Flutterwave's own checkout — not on our servers. We never see or store your full card number. What we keep is the record of the transaction: the amount, the currency, what it was for, the provider's reference and whether it succeeded, so we can support you and keep proper accounts.

2.5 AI features and what happens to what you write

Our AI features run on Google's Gemini models. When you run a tool or message Hera, the text you submit — which may include your resume, your goals and details of your job search — is sent to that provider to generate the response, along with whichever profile details that tool needs to personalise it. The input and the output are stored on your account so your history is there when you come back, and you can clear a result whenever you like.

Please don't paste anything you would rather not have processed by a third-party provider — someone else's private information, for example. We do not sell your data, and we do not show your content to employers, mentors or other members unless you publish or send it yourself.

2.6 Who we share it with

We share personal information with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract and only for what we ask them to do:

  • Supabase — managed PostgreSQL hosting for the platform database.
  • Cloudinary — storage and delivery of the files you upload — profile photos, resumes and portfolio images.
  • Resend — sending our emails.
  • Paystack and Flutterwave — taking payments and making payouts.
  • Google — Gemini for the AI features, Google Analytics for traffic measurement, and the YouTube Data API for the learning videos in Career Explorer (no personal information is sent to YouTube).
  • Job listing sources — the boards and aggregators our listings come from. That data flows towards us — we fetch listings, we don't send them your details.

We also share information in these situations:

  • with other members, where you post in the community, publish your portfolio or join a chapter;
  • with a mentor, when you book a session — they see your name and what you write in the booking;
  • with an employer, when you send an application or a document through the platform;
  • with our own team, who can access member accounts for support and moderation — admin actions on member accounts are logged;
  • where we are legally required to, or need to in order to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim;
  • if Remote WorkHER is ever involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case we will tell you before your information moves.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent it to advertisers.

2.7 What is public and what is not

Your onboarding answers, documents, applications, payments, career plan and AI history are private to your account and our team. They are never shown to other members.

  • Your portfolio — is private until you publish it. Once published, anyone with the link can view it, and it may be found by search engines.
  • The community — shows your name, photo and anything you post to other signed-in members.
  • The Talent Pool — is opt-in. If you apply and are approved, the profile you submitted is visible to our team and to employers we share the pool with.
  • Mentor profiles — are public if you are an approved mentor — that is the point of them — and show what you chose to put in your profile.

2.8 Where your information is processed

We are based in Nigeria, and some of the providers above process data outside it — mainly in the European Union and the United States. Where information is transferred across borders, we rely on the safeguards in our agreements with those providers and on their own compliance frameworks to keep the same level of protection.

2.9 How long we keep your information

We keep your information for as long as your account is open. Sign-in sessions expire on their own and can be revoked from Settings at any time.

If you ask us to close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days — except records we are required to keep, such as payment and tax records, which we hold for as long as the law requires, and anything we need to keep in order to handle a legal claim or a safety issue. Community posts and comments may stay visible with your name removed, so that conversations others took part in remain readable.

2.10 Your rights and choices

  • See and correct your details — most of what we hold is editable from your Profile page. For a full copy of your data, email us and we will put one together.
  • Choose which emails you get — Settings → Notifications lets you switch off every optional email — the welcome series, daily plans, reminders, application updates, event invitations, discussion replies and announcements. Transactional email (verification, receipts, password resets, booking confirmations) is a record of something you did and always sends.
  • Manage your sessions — Settings → Signed-in devices shows every active session and lets you end any of them.
  • Delete, object, restrict or port — email partnerships@remoteworkher.com to ask us to delete your account, object to a use of your data, restrict processing, or send you a portable copy. We respond within 30 days.
  • Complain — if you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first — but you can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the UK or EU.

2.11 How we protect it

Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, traffic between you and the platform is encrypted in transit, and your session cookie is httpOnly so scripts on the page cannot read it. Access to member data is limited to the staff who need it, and admin actions on member accounts are logged. No platform can promise perfect security, but if you ever think your account has been accessed by someone else, email partnerships@remoteworkher.com and we will act on it quickly.

2.12 Children

Remote WorkHER is not for children. You must be at least 15 to hold an account, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.

2.13 Changes to this policy

As the platform grows, this policy will change with it. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page whenever it does, and for changes that materially affect how we use your information we will tell you by email or inside the product before they take effect.

2.14 Contact us

Questions about these Terms, this Privacy Policy, or anything we hold about you? Email partnerships@remoteworkher.com. We aim to reply within a few business days.

Still have a question?

Anything about these terms, your data, or something you'd like us to delete — we read every email.
